Blood Drive
A number of people rolled up their sleeves for the Highland Park
First Aid Squad's Summer Blood Drive! We teamed up with the Penn-Jersey
Region of the American Red Cross and encouraged people to give the gift
of life.
45 units were collected, exceeding our goal of 40 and surpassing our
previous record of 42 units! 31 of the units collected were from first
time donors!
Thank you to everyone that turned out to donate! Those 45 units will help over 130 hospital patients this summer!
Thanks again! Have a great summer!

Who we are & What we do:
The Highland Park First Aid Squad or HPFAS is the primary Basic Life
Support (BLS) Emergency Medical Services (EMS) provider for the Borough
of Highland Park, as well as a mutual aid provider to surrounding EMS
agencies in Edison, Piscataway, Metuchen, New Brunswick, and Rutgers
University. HPFAS provides emergency and non-emergency transports to
and from area hospitals, as well as EMS coverage during special events
like football and basketball games, the street fair, Park Town outings,
and the Fourth of July festivities. HPFAS also provides education to
the public, teaching First Aid and CPR classes, and providing certified
car seat checks. We are located at 128 South Eleventh Avenue, across
the street from Irving Primary School. We are a 100% volunteer agency
that has been working to keep the residents and guests of Highland Park
healthy and safe since 1949.
In an Emergency:
- Dial 911
- Remain calm, speak calmly and clearly.
- Make sure to give the dispatcher the following information:
- The location or address where help is needed,
- Your name and the phone number you are calling from,
- The nature of the problem and when it occured.
- Answer all other questions as quickly and accurately as possible.
- Stay on the phone for as long as it is safe to do so or until the dispatcher tells you to hang up.

Donations:
HPFAS does not bill for its services, and as such, relies on generous
donations to continue operating. The Borough of Highland Park
contributes only a small portion to our budget, approximately 20% of
our annual budget, and that figure has not changed in almost 20 years.
If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation, please mail a
check or money order (please do not send cash) to the Highland Park
First Aid Squad, 128 South Eleventh Avenue, Highland Park, NJ 08904.
Joining:
If you would like to join, and are at least 16 years of age, please
call (732) 985 - 8960 for more information and an application.
